History
In 2001 several brothers that attended Masjid Al Fajr, the only Masjid for many years in Indianapolis, decided there needed to be an additional Masjid. These brothers formed Masjid Al Mumineen to be located on the Eastside of Indianapolis. This new Masjid was formed with a mission to provide a place of worship free of sectarian dogma and political persuasions. Masjid Al Mumineen would be opened to every Muslim regardless of Nationality, Race, gender, and social strata with the main goal to give dawah and services to Americans in our community. Making our agenda one that is for America. In 2002 we received a Charter for a Not-for-profit corporation from the state of Indiana.
Our initial location was in a rented office suite and in 2003 we purchased a 7,000 square foot building. We have inhabited this building for the last six years and are in the process of rehabilitation and retiring the contract. Currently we offer five salat a day, congregational services on Jumuah, Islamic studies classes, Youth educational program, and a dawah program.
Masjid Al Mumineen is managed day to day by a Shurah that is elected semi-annually by the General assembly of members. The Shrurah appoints an Imam and an Amir. A Board of Trustees is also elected to maintain the holding of the Corporations.
